Christopher and his crack team of designers will collaborate to design and build you a unique puppet, prop, or costume.
Basic Package includes:
- Two consultation meetings to plan and discuss the original design over the course of the build
- One meeting to serve as a fitting, rehearsal, or trial with the item or mock-up item
- Fee for approximately 20 hours of labor

Christopher Williams has been devoted to performing and crafting choreographic works in New York City and abroad since 1999. A curious alchemist who naturally dissolves boundaries between various art forms, he has developed a unique style that dovetails rather than eclipses experimental dance with visual art, theater, puppetry, and live music. Preferring to cast each new piece specifically rather than maintaining a set company, he carefully assembles a wide variety of brilliant performers that juxtapose many body types and span many ages in order to instill his work with an unusual corporeal counterpoint.
In conjunction with a profound personal passion for early art, literature, and music of many cultures, Christopher has recently made works inspired by historical wonders and curiosities that refract and re-imagine the sensibilities of lost ages in contemporary contexts. By employing a highly detailed choreographic vocabulary along with carefully stylized visual and live sonorous elements, his pieces produce an effect for observers of entering marvelously strange and fantastical new worlds.
Christopher is particularly interested in expanding live performance as an art form by rigorously re-examining the relationship of historical literature, early and contemporary music, prosthetic costume, mask, and puppetry to the movement of the human body. He notices an intricate harmony between seemingly disparate forms due to their common potential for movement, and finds compelling instances of visual, emotional, and spatial polyphony therein. The body of a dancer can move independently or become an armature upon which to sculpt, a musical vessel, a visage upon which masks may appear, a medium through which puppets can rouse, and even a sort of time machine in his work.
Though we are led to believe certain truths about our universe, ample ambiguous territory remains. Although he experiences a peculiar nostalgia for former ages that pondered the existence of unknown loci, flora, fauna, and the supernatural, Christopher believes that a simple continuation of the innately beautiful human impulse to explain our existence on the planet can be followed by generating innovative contemporary performance works. It is his belief that choreographic work inclusive of a variety of creatively combined elements provides both a powerful sense of vital spectacle and ritual for audiences and offers a culturally essential place where the public imagination is encouraged to soar.
